Become a Volunteer Guide

Our mission is to produce good fruit by reaching outdoors into God's creation. In order to do that, we need male Volunteer Guides to help mentor young men through Christ-centered outdoor adventure programs.

As a Volunteer Guide, you’ll have the opportunity to walk alongside young men in the field—teaching them hunting, fishing, shooting sports, and outdoor skills while modeling leadership, faith and integrity. Our Outing Coordinators oversee and lead our Weekend Adventures, which typically have 3 to 4 Volunteer Guides assisting a group of 6 to 8 young men at our partner ranches (located in South Texas, Uvalde, and the Hill Country).

Steps to Get Involved:

  1. Sign Up Online
Start by completing a Volunteer Guide Membership membership right here on our website.

  2.  Interview
After your membership is received, we’ll schedule a phone or in-person interview. This is a chance for us to get to know you better, answer your questions, and ensure that our volunteers are a great fit for mentoring youth in a safe and positive way.

  3. Complete Online Application & Background Check
After the interview, you’ll be sent an email with a link to our online application with more in-depth questions and where we will ask for references to contact.

  4. Orientation & Training
Once approved, you’ll be sent some online training links to complete. Here, you’ll learn more about our mission, policies and procedures, and safety guidelines.

  5. After training, you’ll join us in the field on our Weekend Adventures —helping guide kids on hunts, fishing trips, shooting sports events, and outdoor adventure weekends. As a Volunteer Guide, you’ll be more than just an instructor—you’ll be a mentor who helps shape lives through the outdoors.

FAQs

What kind of time commitment is expected?

We ask our Volunteer Guides to commit to helping with a minimum of six outings a year—typically three in the fall and three in the spring. This consistency allows you to build meaningful relationships with the youth you mentor. Additional opportunities are available for those who want to be more involved.

Do I need a background check?

Yes. After your interview and application are submitted, we will send you a background check questionnaire. Because we work directly with youth, all Volunteer Guides must pass a background check before participating in events.

Will I receive training?

Absolutely. Every volunteer will complete an orientation and training session that covers safety, policy/procedures, mentoring principles, and our Christ-centered approach to outdoor adventures. Once that's completed, you can start volunteering on weekend adventures serving under an experienced Outing Coordinator.

What will I be doing as a guide?

Each adventure weekend typically has 3 or 4 volunteer guides serving under an Outing Coordinator. Based on your area of outdoor expertise and skill level, you will help instruct and guide kids in the field throughout the weekend. Volunteer Guides will supervise kids during all activities and help as directed by the outing coordinator.

What’s the first step to getting started?

Simply sign up for a Volunteer Guide Membership on our website. After that, we’ll contact you to schedule a phone or in-person interview to get the process going.
